Damn it! That's my lobster!
If you didn’t already know there is a new girl in my house, actually as of yesterday there is another! (shaking my head) The worst part is that they all cycle together, so one week a month I have to buy flowers and hide in my room. This story is about the second to newest girl, she was the one that got spit on in the story here. I first felt bad for her but in less than a month she has managed to have everyone HATE her. I must admit I feel bent by the will of others to despise her as well but I’m not a fan of that.
Lacy the girl that invited her to stay is the matriarch of the house, she has a little girl of 3 and even though 24 she’s got the single mother thing down. She has a very strong personality and if you butt heads with her you are going to bleed, no matter how small the issue. Lacy the mom was the one that brought spit girl (Christina) under her wing and like a good friend thought it would be fun to bring her out to meet some guys. Big mistake…
Did I mention that the receiver of spit is only 95 bls, shapely and likes to were skimpy clothing?
Of the two guys Lacy was really into one, she was texting him for a week and there was an assumed connection. The other guy was for Christina to rebound off of. This all was very implied and the implication was purposely ignored by little Chrisy. Who decided to go for the big game which reminds me of… Story time!!!
We are in a twelve foot inflatable black boat flying along fast enough to create wind ripples in my face. The two of us are like shadow puppets against the moonlight and to the untrained eye we look like navy seals wrapped up in our dive gear. The previous day John was free diving in the area and saw something that really excited him. A lobster in a trap about 30 feet down in the cold California water, it was the biggest lobster he had ever seen about 15 lbs. (which for the lobster ignorant is unheard of!!) John didn’t get the lobster the first time out because the cage was locked.
We looked like navy seals for a reason, we could have gotten in a lot of trouble for stealing from a lobster trap but we were 18 and like my current roommate didn’t care. We set out in different directions to find the trap that contained the behemoth. I followed a trap line down turned on my light, like fog in the headlights I could see very little except a dim yellow line. I reached the cage and to my surprise, WOW… there, looking up at me was the biggest lobster I have ever seen! So big that it looked as if he was too big for the cage. To free him I frantically clipped the metal wires that held the cage shut and fought with this ridiculously strong bug. I bumbled him in my game bag and I laid a mental claim like a mother to her newborn.
On the way home nothing was said but the tension was thick. It was unspoken that the lobster was John’s it was his idea, his boat and his find but I was being a selfish shit. We when got his house, he said it. “Hey Mike that lobster is mine you know that right?” I pursed my lips in sullenly handed it over. I knew it but I had somehow rationalized in my mind that I deserved it. I found it, I wrestled it out of the cage. I could have made a fuss over it but I was either too much of a pussy or I didn’t want to hurt a friendship.
I know the two stories are pretty far apart from each other! A lobster and a cute guy? Well maybe I just wanted to tell the story?
Christina broke an unwritten understanding and she justified it with all means necessary. When Lacy got upset Christina rubbed it in her face, having noisy sexy with this guy in the room next door. She invited him over nightly and flaunted it under Lacy’s nose. Christina is now suffering the consequences of her actions and is refusing to admit to any fault. It is ugly here, the girls collectively want to tattoo slut to her forehead and shave all her body hair off. Girl code has kicked in something fierce and even I feel the gravitational urge to ostracize her.
Why would she do this? Did she need an ego boost after her boyfriend dumped her, did she need to steal the giant lobster from her “older sister”? Then to protect her ego she demonized the rest of the house? It’s all kinda sucks, since she works with Lacy she will probably lose her job, room, security and eventually the boy. I remember the first time I burned friendships over the opposite sex. Never again, friends have a much longer half life. Hmmmm…. It’s too bad but Christina is only 18, clearly the lesson of girl code needs to be hammered in with a little pain.
So I guess the moral of the story is… don’t steals somebody elses lobster, no matter how big it is!

I know… not too bright. I remember doing stuff like that way back when
Wow, you never, ever, never (I mean NEVER) bite the hand that feeds you. Did I mention never?

The worse thing is that she is being shitty about it still bringing the guy over everyday. I am having a pretty low opinion of the guy as well.
I’m thinking that boundaries may need to be established if she wants to stay in the house. Clearly, she needs the “up” after the bad relationship, but there is no reason to drag your roommate down to get it. If she wants to play that game, she can play it in a place paying full rent on her own.

If someone takes a guy from you, then let them. If he’s not intrigued enough to be all about you then what do you want him for? Of course he can hang w/ his friends and whatever..so can you..but if another girl snags his interest then so be it. Beautiful, confident women will not lose the right guy; but we’ll rid ourselves of all the wrong guys just by being ourselves. She was too easy for him to get.

Rachael, normally I would agree with you but not in this situation no. Imagine if you’re courting a job and it looks like you might get it. Then your more qualified friend snakes the job from you just to build their ego. I don’t think this is acceptable at all and younger Christina as well as the boy are not going to have many friends by behaving this way.
@jillian She is out at the end of the month. Interesting the other roommate has found a reason to have a beef with her too. Everyone is turning on her! It is almost as if the more she fights doing the right thing the more hell she is going to get!
Karma is a bitch! If she insists on antagonizing everyone then she’ll get as good as she gives. Hopefully she’ll learn from this whole thing…. But then maybe she’s cute enough to get away with her shit and so won’t learn for a few years yet. In the meantime, Jillian, you’re right, the other ‘mates need to set boundaries and it sounds like they have if she’s out at the end of the month.
And can I just say–I *really* resented girls like her when I was her age–too cute, too available, and always getting their way. Ugh! Oh, and the guy is a total jerk, too! Ok, I’ve vented that vestige of juvenile angst. Much better now!

Man,that’s so wrong…She broke the girl code big time.Sorry, but if it would be me i wouldn’t let get away with it.Otherwise how else is she going to learn about her mistakes. And been 18 isn’t a reason to be completely stupid.Breaking the code like that just make you lose friends who could be there when you really needed in the future.

Damn… kinda surprised this post hit a nerve. I really wasn’t going to post it at first.
Sarah nailed it, too cute, too available and always getting their way.
@priscila you are right about the 18 part. Lacy’s sister is here and she is 17 and totally gets the issue. However… Lacy’s older sister just pulled something similar on her roommate and was shocked when I told her is was a huge huge no no.
It’s really sad today that some people today don’t have any ethics. Is like they forgot that saying:”Don’t do to others what you don’t want it done to yourself”.I had that done to me a long time ago,and it’s not something easy to get over it.
