Why do men and women cheat?!

Grandma you slut!

So I am on my way to Las Veges with my dad, driving in a rental convertible mustang. Had not seen my dad for a few years and it was really good to catch up. The conversation ebbed and flowed as we drove along the 15. Things turned a bit to a more somber note when dad brought up the passing of his mother. She died of cancer only a few months earlier. We both became a bit silent as the wind rushed over our heads. “Don’t know if you knew this but your grandpa was not your grandpa” said my dad. I laughed missing the gravity of the situation. “So that is why I am so much better looking than the rest of the family!” I looked over laughing at my dad and saw him tearing up, something I have witnessed only once or twice in my life. Clearly this was no joke but it took a little while to settle in. I didn’t feel the same amount of pain as my father, in fact I felt no pain at all and was confused why my father did. Maybe it was the betrayal of the man he called dad, the grandfather that I didn’t know very well. Maybe it was a lifetime of lies finally brought to a close after my grandmother’s death. My father actually confronted his mom on her deathbed only to have her deny what the whole family including his father was aware of.  Grandma passed without ever admitting her indiscretion and my grandfather died spending his life raising another man’s son.

Apparently 10-15 % of the world’s population has a different father than what they think! This means that over 1 in 10 people have moms that cheated while in a marriage or serious relationship that led to marriage. If this is something that people are driven to do in a marriage what are they willing to do when only dating?? Grandma was a great lady, a little promiscuous but very sweet and had no desire to hurt my grandfather. Why was she driven to do something so against her character? Why are so many people driven by desires so against who they are?

The reason men and women do these things is very simple. Everyone is of two minds. One mind is the thinking mind and one is the subconscious animal mind. The two are very often at odds in their objectives. Unfortunately the Animal mind has a ton more power than the thinking conscious mind. The animal mind could care less about your values! All it wants are very simple objectives, one of which is spread it’s DNA at all costs! So is grandma at the mercy of her animal mind ? No! Anyone can work with it but to do so you need to understand it! Take this example, you are driving, you are very hungry, and also on a diet. You see a sign for a juicy looking burger (or what ever is your weakness) there is another sign and another. Next thing you know your animal mind has grabbed the wheel and you find your self shoveling down fries and a burger at a frantic pace. Suddenly your thinking mind wakes and says “what did you do!” This is essentially what happened to grandma but hopefully it took longer than the 5 minutes it took to destroy your diet.
