Spock woke up and turned over to take a long look at Data, he was fast asleep, his pasty rear half covered by a sweaty sheet. Spock felt a very un-Spock-like emotional of disgust. Originally he really dug Data because they had so much in common but when Data contradicted him in front of the captain, Spock wanted to punch him in his grease paint clown face.

It seemed the only positive thing about dating Data, was that Spock was forced to be more creative, to “out think” Data. This was interesting but he constantly felt uncomfortable in this role and although the sex was excellent he felt very empty after they made love. Even when Spock was the pitcher he had to think of the effeminate, creative Engineer, Geordie to “drop a load.” Spock was very confused; how could he have been so comfortable and attracted to Data in the beginning, only to feel disgust and a sense of hatred in the end?

spockanddataLogical with Logical

Spock is the ultimate Logical mind, usurped only by Data the Android. Spock made the initial mistake thinking that commonality leads to a good partnership. Soon he discovered that it is not very fulfilling to hang out with your twin, no matter how good the sex is. Since Data cannot be creative Spock was forced to take on a more creative role in order to compete and fulfill balance. However, he deeply resented this and found himself blaming the oblivious Data. Spock was naturally logical and the last thing he was comfortable playing was a creative role.

Creative with Creative

I recently saw on an online dating profile a musician looking for a musician. She was pretty staunch about it too. She was totally opposed to any non-musical person contacting her.

There is no doubt in my mind that if she receives her wish she will be disappointed. What if the person she finds is more talented than her in the same skill set? Will she be comfortable to become the student of her lover? Or if he is less skilled, will she be able to respect him?

It is a business

You must think of any partnership like a business. Would any business excel if all of the employees specialized in the same thing? Would a company full of accountants be even remotely productive?

Earth and Wind

This is the Earth/Wind or Logical/Creative split. Earth is logical, well grounded and clear cut. Wind is the spirit of creativity, flowing over the earth, wrapping comforting unpredictability around it’s opposite.

Thanks Ben
Actually it isn’t totally my idea but the place I learned it didn’t explain it very well so I am trying repackage the ideas.
Not only that I also want to expand on this with my own theories.
