The rules for texting and why most people break them – part 1

Here are some of the questions I get a lot of:
- I texted her last night is it okay to send one again this morning?
- I texted him three times already, should I call him?
- She sent me 10 texts in one hour, what should I do?
- THEY HAVE NOT TEXTED ME BACK YET, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!?
Wow the world of texting
Who would have thought? My first encounter with texting was in Asia, watching school girls go by on bikes with their boyfriends. The guys are pedaling, the girl is on the back, expertly balancing with one hand wrapped around a starbucks and the other texting so rapidly the frantic beeps sound like a video game. Her boyfriend hits a bump and she, without looking, elbows him in the back, not the slightest pause of her thumb.
I eventually got into it too, learning to text like the wind blows! Racing through a 26 letter alphabet with only 9 keys, I became the Zorro of text world.
To be good at texting one must understand it’s advantages and limitations. If one is aware of these things you can make a guy do some pretty amazing things, Seriously!
Texting can kick ass because:
- You can really craft your response before you send it
- You can use EMOTICONS! ／(.^.)＼
- If you are busy you don’t have to respond right away
- It is a lot less scary than calling someone
- A lack of response can be very powerful
Texting can suck because:
- Your text conversation is recorded FOREVER!!
- It is EASY to send the wrong text to the WRONG person, been there…
- Often texts are shared with friends “dude, look what she said about…”
- Tone is very hard to pick up in a text
- Guys and Girls often use text very differently
- Often you want a response right away but the sender cannot or will not reply.
For example

“I look fat in my dress? U R an asshole!”
Was the text back from a girl that I met when I was out dancing. I totally deserved it. I was trying to figure out the limits of texting and I don’t think my playful tone came through correctly. I called her to salvage the text but it was too late… (’〜`)
Often you want a response right away but the sender cannot or will not reply
“god you freak, stop texting me!”
I am sending out text after text because she wont respond. I am madly in love and desperately need an answer to the question. “Who the hell is the guy you are kissing on your facebook page???” ??(゜Q。)??
Your conversation is recorded FOREVER!!
“Did you get chlamydia from Jackie?? Don’t deny it. John showed me your text”
No comment there… except, shit. (/o＼)
Guys and Girls often use text very differently
“so this girl at work is…”
God! No more about the girl at work! I don’t care about her! I give her one-word answers and finally stop writing back. “I am not one of your girlfriends” I explain to a miffed girl on the other end of the phone. (−_−＃)
It is EASY to send the wrong text to the WRONG person and texts are shared with friends
“Hey, are you sore too? My pubic bone is all bruised!”
Ten minutes later my co-worker texts me back. “I think you got the wrong Sarah! lol” I get to work only to find my text written on one of the white boards in the office. Oops. (￣□￣;)!!
Bullets:
- LOL evolved because tone is tough, spice your texts with emoticons or LOL
- DON’T DIARRHEA TEXT, remember attractive people are busy people
- Get a text send a text, DON’T EVER SEND MULTIPLE TEXTS WITHOUT A RESPONSE
- Be prepared for everyone to see your texts, even six months from now

I’m the texting queen!
A lot of times, when I meet a guy, I tell him Im not a big phone person so I’ll text them instead of call them. Well, last month I met what I thought was a great guy. We hung out, got to know each other and next thing I know, he dumps me in a text message! I know I’m not a big talker, but are guys that idiotic that they can’t dial a number?!

It is pretty clear he is a coward or he is very afraid of you?
My question is, would you have preferred he dumped you on the phone??
I would have preferred he’d dump me in person. But time has passed and he contacted me asking to forgive him and wanting to start over. Guys are such dummies.

If women would follow these texting rules and take the time to read this book it will change your dating life for the better. Same principles often apply to calling men.

Also a good rule is if you have to ask yourself should you text him, well the safest answer to follow when in doubt is NO! The one who cares the least has the power in the relationship. If you initiate all the texting you lose your power. Follow Mikes rules, keep your power.
