Part 6 of boys and cars
So I am at a Christmas party wanting to leave when I run into the lady in the red dress. We talk intensely for a while but I soon go elsewhere as to not show too much interest! About an hour later she is on the dance floor, and wow… a really good dancer. Crap… I am a decent dancer but I kinda like to feel confident! She is solo on the dance floor whipping her hair around like she prepping for that wet scene in Flashdance. Of course… I get dragged on the dance floor WAY out of my comfort zone. I am five beers short of feeling like dancing, we are the only two on the floor, I don’t know anyone there and she is WAY better than me. “Damn it!” I tell myself but go anyway. The lady in red yells over the music to “RELAX!” as she forces my hips to gyrate with hers.
It is only about ten pm and there are a lot of people still there. Miss dance revolution does not stop for anything but I need a break, more social lubricant! (beeeeer) A much older guy makes a halfhearted attempt to dance with her. His hips have stiffened with age and he looks more like he is having sex with a cadaver than dancing. She is sweet and shows him a good time, he leaves smiling hopefully just from the dancing. We start up again and this time the dance floor fills up. We get a little more intimate and draw some attention. Then something interesting happens. Every time I take a break from dance-a-thon girl. A guy moves in and tries to freak with her, she ends up taking a break herself to slow the attention. This gets worse as people leave, let me restate, as women leave. Every time we are not wrapped around each other guys race in to do a stiff legged white boy hip thrust with her. Painful but I watched and laugh she looks like a bright red flower with a bunch of drunk horny bees trying to land on her.
• Good sales people INFLATE the positive (last post)
• Good sales people create demand for a product by limiting the supply
All it takes is about 10 minutes watching the QVC channel to see how limiting the supply works on the human brain. You may know very very well that this is a bunch of bunk as you watch the countdown timer in the corner of the screen but you want to buy anyway! You don’t really need a limited edition rhinestone incrusted coffee maker but all those phone calls in the background? How popular is this product?? The countdown timer says I have 45 seconds left to make a decision, should I get it? I could really use one of those! “Folks, I know the lines are terribly busy on this item but keep calling! You will get through!” Says a cheesy 50 something Ken doll of a guy. You pick up the phone and hold it in your hand, dial the number and hang up. In the last ten seconds you are ready to hit redial. Shit, what to do? It is only three payments of 29.95! Suddenly a family member walks in, your buying trance is broken and the timer runs out. “Sorry folks, you missed out on that one! Now take a look at this quasi-jade replica of a Han dynasty BBQ!”
Humans are programmed to desire what is in limited supply. Yes the lady in red was sexy and dancing up a storm but she became even more attractive when the other women went home. Not to mention her preferring to dance with only one guy. As the night wore on and alcohol consumption replaced conversation, the horny-bees desperately wanted this flower. Now you may not want a bunch of drunken guys to land on you but remember the point. When you have attention, are different and scarce you become extremely attractive.
Bullets:
• Always be busy, sexy people have a lot going on and their attentions are fought for
• Go out, where you stand out! Being the only black, Chinese, or female makes you special
• Date lots of guys at the same time, this raises your value in your own mind and truly makes your time scarce
• Have the QVC countdown timer in your head always be ready to walk away from the conversation
• Scarcity is sexy, what would make YOU scarce?

Love your red lady (from Flashdance?) and this is a great story!
I once took a class in a subject that was entirely male dominated. In fact at this school, I was the first girl ever to take this course. Being the only girl in a class of twenty boys got me more attention than I ever could have dreamed of. And I just took the class because I loved the subject. All the guys in the class treated me like I was something very special (and I was!). What a way to get positive attention! Yes, scarcity made me stand out in a very good way.
